Report on Pulse Wave DDoS Attacks

Tomshardware reports here on a new type of distributed denial-of-service attack known as a pulse wave. The attack pattern consists of alternating bursts of traffic and inactivity. This style of attack has several advantages: it requires fewer resources and allows the attacker to target multiple sites; it is effective against appliance first/cloud second mitigation techniques.
